Embattled Tamarac Commissioner Elvin Villalobos has confirmed that he is under investigation following a tip that exposed corruption at City Hall. The investigation centers around City Staff purchasing a $32,000 car for Villalobos’ use.
In a recent workshop, Villalobos attempted to defend himself against the allegations, but his response only seemed to dig him deeper into trouble. He stumbled over his words, and lied, leaving everyone at City Hall in stunned silence.
The true extent of Villalobos’ corruption was revealed when he admitted that his first choice of a taxpayer-funded car was a “Tesla”, but he settled for a Chevy Volt instead, claiming that it was more consistent with what government officials drive.

Villalobos went on to accuse his fellow commissioners of filing the complaint against him, calling them “stupid”. This is not the first time Villalobos has been at the center of controversy and a corruption probe. The Office of Inspector General is also investigating him for wining and dining with lobbyists, a clear violation of Broward County’s ethics code.
