Did you know that last week was National Customer Service Week? According to nationalcustomerserviceweek.org, National Customer Service Week was “established by the International Customer Service Association (ICSA, now PACE). National Customer Service Week was proclaimed an official event by the U.S. Congress in 1992, via Presidential Proclamation. Since then, the first full business week of each October has been celebrated by organizations across many industries in the United States and around the world.”
Right here in Tamarac, City staff put together a week’s worth of videos celebrating various City staff. You can view the videos on the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Facebook page; here are a few highlights:
A Message from the Director
The week kicked off with a message from Greg Warner, the director of Parks and Recreation, who reminded everyone that “Here in Tamarac, we consider every week Customer Service Week.” He added that “Now, more than ever, I think everybody realizes how important social interaction is,” and added that Parks and Recreation staff can’t wait to reopen, and share a smile or a friendly hello with residents.
At the Tamarac Community Center, staff members reminded us that the City’s Customer Service team is:
- Inspiring
- Important
- Passionate
- Friendly
- Funny
- Loyal
- Dependable
“Thank You for All Your Efforts”
Members of the Tamarac Aquatic Complex staff were also grateful to the Customer Service team for all their efforts throughout the pandemic.
The Transportation Team had high praise for the Customer Service staff. Al Sherwood, a Community Bus Driver, took this opportunity to thank his customers: the bus riders that Mr. Sherwood knows rely on this service. Another driver, Jesse Torres, who’s been driving for the city for nearly five years, reminded everyone to stay safe and said that “It will be my honor to continue driving for [the city].”
Vice Mayor Bolton: Unscripted with Sammie Monroe
As part of his “Unscripted” video series, Vice Mayor Marlon Bolton talked with Sammie Monroe, Tamarac’s Recreation Site Supervisor about why he loves his job and the impact his team makes on the community, even during COVID. During Customer Service Week, Vice Mayor Bolton noted that Mr. Monroe is “a great example of the dedication our employees feel toward those we serve!” Mr. Monroe, a Florida native, said that the most important part of his job is building a relationship with the community. He also reminded everyone that most of the activities that the City offers have continued, even though they moved to virtual activities during the pandemic. Mr. Monroe is looking forward to welcoming everyone back in person as soon as feasible.
