Christine Cajuste Appointed Director of Financial Services for the City

In mid-October, Christine Cajuste was appointed to be the Director of Financial Services for the City of Tamarac. According to the City website, “The Financial Services department manages the City’s financial affairs, supporting and maintaining Tamarac’s strong financial reputation. It is comprised of four divisions: Accounting, Customer Service and Utility Billing, Management and Budget Services, and Purchasing and Contracts Management.”

In the words of City Manager Michael C. Cernech, writing in his October 2 letter of recommendation,

Ms. Cajuste, who has been serving as Interim Director of Financial Services since March of 2020, will “continue to be an asset to the organization.”

With a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University, Ms. Cajuste is a Certified Public Accountant with nearly two decades of municipal government experience. She has been with the City for almost 13 years in a variety of technical and leadership roles, serving as the City’s Controller as well as the Assistant Director of Financial Services.

Early in her career, Ms. Cajuste served as a senior auditor for several firms, including TCBA Watson Rice LLP, known as “one of the nation’s largest and oldest culturally and ethnically diverse certified public accounting and consulting firms”.

As noted on her LinkedIn profile, Ms. Cajuste spent four years as the Assistant Finance Director for the City of Opa-Locka before joining the City of Tamarac in 2008.
